SUSTAINABILITY

Making it right today for tomorrow.

As one of Australia’s leading and largest steel roll formers, Stramit takes an active approach to sustainability. We take pride in developing work practices that support our overall goal of achieving a 30% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.

We demonstrate our commitment in many ways, including but not limited to:

Optimal Warehouse Design and Safety

Our buildings are:

  • Built with Stramit’s structural steel, roofing and rainwater products to maximise their lifespan
  • Designed to optimise the distribution and harvest of rainwater for fire suppression systems
  • Large enough to install solar arrays that will reduce our energy consumption

All Stramit sites adhere to the strictest health and safety procedures to protect our staff, customers and communities.

Efficient Sales & Delivery

We are actively moving our corporate vehicle fleet from petrol to hybrid vehicles to reduce carbon emissions, increase reliability and improve the fuel efficiency of our fleet nationwide.

Across our sites, we partner with select third-party logistics providers to distribute Stramit products nationwide. Our selection criteria include examining each partner’s commitment to sustainability, particularly fleet age, maintenance programs and efficiency.

Customer-Led Product Design & Innovation

Our in-house product design experts lead the way with sustainable design solutions for the built environment. We engineer products that meet the highest Australian standards and withstand Australia’s harshest weather conditions. Our products reduce the embodied carbon cost of the finished building through reduced maintenance and extended product life.

Our technical expertise ensures build partners can optimise the cost of a build with the most robust, durable products and solutions for every project. We use the optimum level of recyclable materials in our products without compromising quality.

Responsible & Sustainable Supply Chain

We select and roll only the highest quality steel products. Our robust supply chain ensures we work with industry-leading suppliers, including BlueScope and COLORBOND® steel products certified with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The International Organization for Standardization 14025 defines such products as a Type III declaration that quantifies environmental information on a product’s life cycle and its impact on the environment.

We are the only Australian steel roll formers to use ZAM®, with its exceptional corrosion-resistant properties. Stramit products are durable, versatile and offer repurposing opportunities throughout the lifecycle of the building.

Investment in Smarter Factory Processes

We continue to invest, audit and evaluate our roll form processes Australia-wide by:

  • Conducting regular energy audits
  • Partnering with service providers that align with our sustainability objectives
  • Selecting green energy tariffs to reduce CO2 emissions
  • Participating in the circular economy with on-site recycling initiatives
  • Optimising the run-time and outputs of our mill machinery
  • Investing in new production technology and software

Backed by Fletcher Building & Science-Based Targets

Addressing climate change is a huge global challenge. We are supported by and committed to the sustainability objectives of our parent company, Fletcher Building. We are committed to becoming the Australian leader in sustainable building materials, construction and distribution, with ambitious goals across six defined areas.

Our target of 30% reduction by 2030 is verified by the Science Based Targets initiative, a recognised international third-party verification body. It is in line with the goals set in the Paris agreement.

Above all, we are committed to promoting a culture of compliance, honesty and ethical behaviour across all our endeavours.
